FOR THE LOVE OF MANUALS

In this digital age of ours, many coaches prefer to watch a DVD about a football concept  or strategy.   It would appear that the time of the written playbook or concept manual has come and gone.  I, personally, do not buy into that myth.  There are still many coaches out there (both young and seasoned) who would very much like to have what I call, a ”physical” resource like a manual to delve into as they prepare to install a new football strategy.  Remember, DVDs cannot be taken onto the practice field but a physical copy of the content that is to be installed CAN be referenced while on the turf.

When contemplating the best way that I would be able to teach my Pistol-Flex Triple Option offense, I collaborated with the professionals at American Football Monthly and after much deliberation, it was decided to offer the best of both worlds: a complete four DVD set and its companion manual.  In this way, the coach can first watch the in-depth DVD series and then, read the manual.  He might also want to show the DVD content to his offensive players.  Then, the manual can be taken onto the field as a reference source if any questions still need to be answered.

If any coach has any comment or question about the Pistol-Flex Triple Option, please feel free to post them on this blog.  I will answer your queries in good order.

Yours in Option football!
