#3 – What were you able to accomplish during this past season and tell us about your winter conditioning program as we head into 2017?

We worked on building the structure and culture that we want in place for the program going forward. I have just about finished getting the coaching staff in place and am very optimistic with the potential and talents that they bring. Another area that we have made headway with is community outreach and getting several alumni involved in helping us build the brand. The winter conditioning program went very well and our kids made excellent gains in strength, speed and work ethic. I was pleased with the results and am excited about the direction we’re going.

#4 – What was your first recruiting season like and what characteristics in recruits are you specifically looking for?

I feel good about the position that we’re in recruiting wise. The amount of interest in the program coupled with the area that we are in has made for a really busy recruiting season. We were able to get a tremendous amount of live evaluations and I was able to re-establish relationships with the area’s high school coaches. We are looking for recruits that are serious about getting their degree, being great football players and have an understanding that we represent much more than just ourselves. Flexibility, football speed, toughness, being physical and playing with an edge are characteristics that we are looking for in our guys. The recommendation from the high school coach is critical. This gives us insight into the recruit’s history and all of the intangibles that we can’t see on film.
