Quarterback Drills by Retired Coach Charlie Stubbs

Backfield Actions or Tracks – Work on proper footwork, mesh point and faking for our running game.

Procedure: 1. Always have a center with the drill. If not, the extra quarterback will snap the ball.

2. Coach will call out the running play to be

3. Quarterback will take the snap from center. Execute his proper footwork – get to the mesh point and hand the ball off to the running back. 

4. A new quarterback and back will rotate in each play. 

Coaching Points:                       A) Proper footwork.                                                         B) Get to the correct mesh point.                                       C) Look the football in and have the hand/eyes follow the back into the hole.           D) Carry out play-action fake properly.
