EFFECTIVE QUARTERBACK DRILLS FOR ALL LEVELS
VII. Drop Drill – To concentrate on consistent drops. Also can be used as a conditioning drill.
Procedure:
1. Align a quarterback on a line.
2. He will execute: 3-3 step drops and 5-5 step drops
3. The quarterback should hustle back up to the line of scrimmage after each drop.
4. After the last 5 step drop, give him a direction to scramble out and he will sprint downfield for 20 yards.
5. Next quarterback will jump up.
Coaching Points:
A) Proper footwork
. B) Proper depth on drop.
C) Ball held at chest level – don’t pull with elbows – work your feet.
D) Eyes always looking downfield at imaginary free safety.
