Say, “Thank You”

A reality check for all of us head coaches…. if you are having success, the people around you are a HUGE reason for that success. Sometimes we can be so full of ourselves we lose sight of that.

I  just completed my first season at Mercer County HS.  We had our banquet this past week. The best that I could, I invited the support personnel, youth coaches, administration, sponsors, and many others who made our season a success.

I was surprised at the reaction. For many of them, it was the first time they had been invited to the HS banquet or been told “thank you.”  We have a GREAT middle school football coach. He told me he had never been invited. He was at our banquet with some of his staff.

Can you imagine running your football program without a great MS coach?  What about running it without those who provide financial support?  What about the staff that keep your facility clean?  What about the trainer? Your position coaches?

Being a head football coach is  not a spot for the Lone Ranger.

If you are serious about being a leader, and having long term success….. more importantly, being a good person and doing what is right…. take the time to say THANK YOU to those that impact your kids and your program.

And… if you really think YOU  are the sole reason your team is so good, please email me so we can get you on the schedule.  😉

Here are two guys that are big reasons for any success I have enjoyed.

My two favorite # 71s

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
