Defensive Line Movements, Stunts, and Games Menu in the Base 3-4

Happy New Year to all as we embark on the 2015 off-season and the preparation for this fall’s contests.

With about a month left in recruiting, we are all searching for ideas to create positive plays in whatever phase of the game we are researching on the football-side of things.  Defensively and on the defensive line, we are searching for ways to create minus yardage plays and ball disruptions which all should hopefully lead to the most important statistic of all: takeaways.  2015 will be our third fall in the 3-4 at Cornell.  As we continue to study this configuration, it has become apparent that the better we get up front with the innate talent of our personnel, the more simplistic we can hopefully become.  This is undoubtedly an obvious statement to all of you and a reality that we are excited to live.

Please find attached our basic movements, stunts, and games menu.  We have always had some version of this and have continued to evolve it over the past two years; however, our implementation has been limited other than in their incorporation into larger pressure and blitz tracks. We have relied on bringing 5, 6, and 7 men to create those positive plays we yearn for.  As we progress and as you can see on TV with the dominant defenses we mimic like Stanford at the college level and Philadelphia at the pro level, we will hopefully be able to have minus yardage plays occur by using the movements, stunts, and games found here. They will allow us to manufacture some “noise” by bringing only 3 or 4 but still changing the look for the offense whether it be run or pass.  All the best in 2015.
