SPRINT OUT PASS/RUN OPTION

This play is great if your QB is somewhat of an athlete.  It allows him to get out of the pocket “now” and to use his athleticism to buy some time as his two primary receiving targets run their respective routes.  We tell the QB that if he knows that he can get 10 yards or more running the football, then he should not hesitate and just run for the yardage.  Passing wise, his primary target on the play is the Z receiver who does a Go Route.  Because this play “looks” like our base Triple Option play, if that CB bites on the first move of our “Z” and gets caught looking in the backfield, then our Z Receiver should be wide open.  If the Z is covered, than the QB’s second read is the back side A-Back who, after going in orbit motion, performs a “slide” route towards the sideline.
