MANSFIELD DROPS SEASON OPENER TO CORNELL

The Mansfield University Sprint football team started the 2011 season on a sour note dropping a very closely contested game to Cornell 37-23.

The Mounties got off to a great start as Freshman QB Mike Maniscalco took the ball off of a Midline Option play to pay dirt.  The game went back and fourth as the teams struggled to get an edge.  Five costly turnovers proved to be the difference as Mansfield ended up losing the game to the Big Red.

Mansfield ran the ball 43 times for a total of 111 yards on the ground.

Next up for the Mounties will be the Princeton Tigers.  Game time will be 1pm at Karl Van Norman Field.
