Coaches: Got a very tough 3-tech monster that you cannot block? Use Midline!
The Midline is a B-back/QB double option play that eliminates that hard to block 3-tech DT. QB puts the correct A-back in motion; at the snap, he reads that 3-tech. If he goes upfield, the QB gives the ball to the B-back; if he pinches in/or is blocked by the OG, QB pulls the ball and attacks the A/B gaps; if given the ball, B-back reads his Action Key (AK)…depending how the AK is being blocked, determines the exact path the B-back takes on the dive; playside OT blocks #2 while playside A-back arcs out to cut #3; center and backside OG combo NT to second level; backside OT hinges and protects his playside gap; backside A-back attacks the LOS in A/B gaps and blocks the second level inside LB.
